C is for Cookie! And It's Good Enough For Me!

"Oh Cookie, Cookie, Cookie starts with C!" says one of our favorite monsters ever. :) When I was younger, I loved watching Sesame Street on PBS -- I have to admit though that Elmo's World was my favorite part. ;)

With all this Jolie Polish swatching, I needed to take a break and so some nail art so I begged friends on Instagram to do a nail collab with me. xD Luckily, Jennifer from LacqueredMama stepped up and we settled on a #maniswap! ;)

I'm not very good at doing character type nails... The only other 'character nails' that I can think of that I've done before were those Pusheen Cat Nails. :/ I just hope I didn't butcher poor ole' Cookie Monster!

The classic chocolate chip cookies turned out super cute though! :D Even my sister agreed and she hardly ever cares about what my nails look like. xD

(I told ya all yesterday that I was super excited to show you my next mani and this is the one! I even added the Sesame Street Sign on my thumb because I wanted something else to paint. The polishes I used are:
Wet n Wild Listening to the Blue Reed
Sephore by OPI Neutral Beauty
China Glaze Gaga For Green
Sinful Colors Snow Me White
Sinful Colors Black on Black
+ white, black, and yellow acrylic paint

Sadly I couldn't fit the whole Sesame Street on my thumb but I did add the 123! :) Do check out Jennifer's original Cookie Monster Mani here -- she even has a tutorial on how she made Cookie Monster!
Polish Pals Nail Art Brushes
Nail Art Brushes
Yeah... so wanna hear a funny story? Okay, actually I wouldn't call it funny -- it's simply ironic. ;)

I have been using the same 2 nail art brushes for almost a year; I bought them off of eBay last July and they've obviously worked pretty well. A set of 3 was 99 cents and they arrived in 4 days since I wasn't buying overseas. :) Back in May, I realized that the bristles were wigging out and the brushes just would not work so I bought a couple sets of brushes off of the Born Pretty Store with full understanding that it takes 3 weeks for them to arrive. I ended up buying the black and blue set from Michaels craft store.

The Michaels brushes are really nice quality but they're way too thick for nail art... I didn't want to trim them too much because I bought these for $4!!! I tried writing "Sesame" in the green sign like 5 times but then just gave up and walked away. Literally an hour later the mail arrives and my BPS package came with the new nail art brushes. First try with new brushes: I easily write out "Sesame". ;) <3 I love them!

I can finally do nail art again with these new brushes! Hurrah! Let's see what I else I can come up with. :)

Your Polish Pal,
Jenna

  5. This is so cute! I really like the cookies and cookie monster! :) great job with all the freehand art... I think I need new brushes I think mine are too stiff... I can never get a thin flat line it always ends up lumpy with some polish missing down the middle :(
